Summary writing
Summary writing or outlining information means that you briefly pass on the main information of a text to someone who has not read it
- neutral and objective language
- no quoting (!!!)
- paraphrase author's main points (to paraphrase = express what someone wrote in a different way)
- only most important details
- less than 1/3 of the original text
Outlining
→ to describe, explain, point out
- to outline or sum up
- focus on the information relevant to the task
- do not sum up the complete text like in a summary
- less than 1/3 of the original text
